Remote Learning

General Guidelines for All Teachers

Multilingual Considerations

Our families come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and include students and parents with varying levels of proficiency in English and their home language.  All staff members are recommended to build on families’ cultural and linguistic backgrounds to provide students with authentic language activities that allow them to participate and access materials in both English and their home language.

A MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT HERNANDEZ

I would like to take another opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your continued patience, flexibility, and dedication to your work and the children of Cicero during this extremely challenging time.

Over the past month, we have all been navigating uncharted territory when it comes to restructuring the way we conduct business and educating the thousands of students we are responsible for. But, with creative thinking and incorporation of the District's 21st-century technology infrastructure, together, we have remained steadfast in ensuring that our approach to learning and interactions with students continue to fulfill the District's mission of igniting the road to excellence.

Though we are not physically able to be with our students, our Remote Learning structures have established a foundation for all of us in District 99 to continue our strong foundation for learning through utilizing teacher-provided resources and differentiate instruction as needed to best support personalization for our students. With our continued support of District-issued student devices and online learning platforms, the District is instilling the true value of Remote Learning through clearly articulated lesson plans and both synchronous and asynchronous classroom engagement.

We understand that all of us are facing different challenges of our own, it is with this in mind that the district administration with assistance from the union leadership, have developed a Remote Learning Plan, that provides flexibility and supports for all. I thank you again for your hard work and dedication. I am confident that the education of our children is in good hands.
